Family Day / Memorial Day Picnic | May 29 & 30

This last weekend was indeed a busy one at Inland Lighthouse but it was also one of the most exciting and fun filled ones as well. It started off on Sunday with our Family Day which occurs each time there are 5 Sundays in a month. On that last Sunday we only have one service at 1:30 PM and follow it with fun and activities for all ages.

This time we had Pastor Ari Prado from Alameda CA join us and we had an incredible bilingual service, as our main sanctuary hosted both our English and Spanish congregations simultaneously.  The worship songs were bilingual as well as everything else including the preaching which was translated incredibly well by Bro Alex DeCampo.

We had a great time in the Holy Ghost and when everyone was done praying we made our way over to the fellowship hall where we had fried chicken, macaroni and cheese and were able to sit, talk and fellowship with hundreds of others! Following the food there was a really neat toddlers area setup with all kinds of things to play with, a massive water slide set up for all of the younger kids and lots of volleyball and basketball for the older ones. People stayed till late, bringing pizza and other food until even the most energetic grew tired and went home.

But that was not the end of the weekend. Oh no, far from it! The very next day it started up all over again because it was our annual Memorial Day picnic in the park! People started arriving to the Martin Tudor park as early as 10am bringing chairs, ez-ups, barbecues, ice chests, softball gear and much much more.  Soon hundreds of ILC members were swarming the park playing softball, rolling around in giant inflatable balls (thank you Bro Tellis!), throwing footballs and cooking nearly everything that can be thrown on a barbeque.

Many people played softball until late into the evening while many others enjoyed watching, cheering and heckling the participants. It truly was a great day and many memories were made and bonds formed.

It was a long and tiring weekend for sure but we can’t wait until next year rolls around and we get to do it all over again!
